Netherlands Society of Yacht Designers and Naval Architects - NBJA

Wherever you sail in the world, chances are that you will meet a yacht designed by a Dutch naval architect. In most cases this architect will be a member of the NBJA.

The aim of this association is to combine all the creativity, expertise and ingenuity that can be found in the area of naval architecture. The association also functions as an up-to-date source of information on rules as well as the latest technology and applications. This makes the NBJA an interesting body for high-quality naval architects to be associated with.

In addition, only candidates who practise naval architecture as their main activity and who meet other strict requirements are invited to join the association. Some of these requirements are:

  • a suitable naval education
  • proven command of all aspects of naval architecture
  • be independent of anyone who might have an interest in any supplies or in the activities to be advised on.

These and other quality standards are laid down in the royally approved bylaws. In addition the NBJA has determined uniform rules for the acceptance and execution of design orders.

The NBJA thus combines a number of important securities that you can rely on.
