Founded in 1986 by Andre Hoek the office started making designs for Dutch traditional flat and round bottom sailing barges, Hoek Design Naval Architects has come a long way since.
Already in the late 80’s Hoek Design added the designs of classically styled yachts with modern underwater lines to their range. It was an instant success, and many yachts to this concept were and are built. The continuous development of both our company and our designs has made us a major player in the international arena of super yacht designers and design offices. Our fourteen man team consists of stylists, naval architects, aero/hydrodynamicists and interior architects.
The interior designs are produced by our in-house styling department. We are proud about the fact that seven of our designs have been nominated for the internationally recognised Superyacht Design awards and that one did received the best interior award and one did receive the Showboat of the Year award.
The designs incorporate all stages, from pre-design sketches to interior detailing and all construction drawings, specifications, speed and rating calculations.
Styling of the yachts, exterior as well as interior, are of prime concern. The designs are renowned for their combination of aesthetics and sailing characteristics. Our interior designers and stylists cooperate closely with the engineers under one roof. This is necessary to make optimal use of the space in the often sleek hulls for the luxurious and complete, but complex interiors and systems.
We use our experience and all the results of our research to the full advantage of our current and future designs. All our designs are optimised using our own Velocity Prediction Program (VPP), a program that was developed in cooperation with Peter van Oossanen and is optimised regularly with model test experiments and full scale tests.
